RESEARCH

One of the two major activities of the SRTC is conducting statistical research. The Research Division is involve in the development, testing and/or experimentation of statistical theories, concepts, definitions, methods and techniques aimed at improving statistical information in terms of quality, reliability, completeness and scope, and cost-effectiveness of producing or delivering statistical outputs.

Mandated to develop a comprehensive and integrated research and training programs on the theories, concepts and methodologies for the promotion of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS), the SRTC Research Division has conducted and/or coordinated as of 2007, a total of seventy-two (72) research projects.

ACTIVITIES OF RESEARCH DIVISION
  • Conducts in-house and external research projects;
  • Grants funding support for institutions through research grants for professional statisticians by way of its research fellowship and for graduates students completing their thesis/dissertation thru the thesis fellowships;
  • Conducts quarterly workshop;
  • Maintains a comprehensive library collection on statistical books and journals;
  • Participates in Inter-agency committee meetings;
  • Coordinates research undertakings for the re-engineering the Government Statistical Services Project - Phase II and Research and Training Programs of the National Statistical Coordination Board;
  • Designs and implements the Census Research and Training Program for the 2002 Census of Agriculture of the National Statistics Office; and
  • Maintains a database of all its research papers and proceedings of annual conferences.
