Abstract

Currently, there are seven series of price indices compiled by the Philippine Statistical System, four of which are at the national level. These are the Consumer Price Index (CPI), General Wholesale Price Index (GWPI), Producer Price Index (PPI) for Agriculture and PPI in Manufacturing, Wholesale Price Index for Construction Materials (CMWPI), General Retail Price Index (GRPI) and Retail Price Index for Construction Materials (CMRPI). The said price indices have varying base years and rebasing period. In consideration of national accounts estimation, the feasibility of a synchronized base year for all the indices was explored. Results show that next base year for all price indices is 2006 to be rebased 6 years thereafter.
