Abstract
The ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Project is an initiative of ASEAN and Japan with the participation of China and Republic of Korea. It has two-fold purposes. Firstly, it seeks to establish an information network on food security among ASEAN + 3 countries. Secondly, it aims to build up the capacity of human resources in these countries to support the Project. The implementation period of AFSIS Phase I is from 2003 to 2007. For the implementation in the Philippines, the SRTC together with the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics has organized an AFSIS National Seminar for the 2003-2007 implementation period and prepare the AFSIS Phase II Strategic Plans, 2008-2012 and the 2008 Operational Plan for the Philippines.
