Abstract

The sampling frame is a vital instrument in the process of generating reliable statistical data. The difficulty experienced during the development of sampling frames for the 2002 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries necessitates the development of a frame from where the sample are to be selected. Therefore, the objective of the project was to create a database for sampling frame for censuses or various surveys in agriculture, fisheries an aquafarm. It incorporated all households with and without agriculture and fisheries activities and all major variables gathered from the Census of Agriculture 2002 and Census of Fisheries 2002. Databases with the list of households and operators with selected variables were created. There were separate frames for agriculture, municipal/commercial fishing and aquafarm operators since each has different characteristics needed in the selection process.
