    SRTC Profile 
   
 

SRTC is the research and training arm of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS). The Philippine Statistical System (PSS) is a decentralized system of agencies involved in policy-making, data producers, users, research and training institutions, and data providers. The PSS is also the government-wide system of providing statistical information and services to the public.

The mission of the SRTC is to improve the quality of statistical information generated by the PSS through the conduct of high quality, objective and responsive statistical research and training activities.


     Legal Basis and Functions
   
 

Executive Order (EO) No. 121 issued on January 30, 1987 created the SRTC. Section 10 of the EO specifies the functions and responsibilities of SRTC as follows:

  • Develop a comprehensive and integrated research and training program on theories, concepts and methodologies for the promotion of the statistical program;
  • Undertake research on statistical concepts, definitions and methods;
  • Promote collaborative research efforts among members of the academic community, data producers and users;
  • Conduct non-degree training programs to upgrade the quality of statistical manpower base in support of the needs of the statistical system and;
  • Provide financial and other forms of assistance to enhance statistical research and development.
