The course provides a thorough introduction to the use of the software STATA for quantitative data analysis.  The emphasis is practical so that participants should understand both the principles of analyses and how to carry them out using STATA.  STATA is a comprehensive integrated package for data management, analysis and graphics.  The course is presented in a way that it is like a prelude for beginners to survey research and, at the same time, enrichment course for the experienced researchers.  Sample datasets will be provided during hands-on exercises and workshops.  Outputs will be presented on the last day of the training.  Statistical concepts and their application are integrated.

What will participants gain?

Participants should, by the end of the course, be able to use STATA for carrying out analysis of most common types of problem encountered in statistical research. Participants should be able to use STATA commands in performing basic and intermediate statistical computations and generate various statistical graphs and charts.

Who can participate?

The course is recommended for researchers and statisticians who wish to learn Stata for their work.  Participants must have proficiency in the use of MS Excel and must have background in basic statistics.
