Basic Statistics for Tertiary Level Teachers  


Includes lectures, discussion, interaction on the concepts and methods on statistics; hands-on computer exercises where the concepts and methods are applied on real data using MS Excel and PhStat; and group/workshop outputs for presentation on the last day of the course.

Course Aim

The course will enhance understanding on basic statistics concepts and methods with emphasis on inferential statistics, and provide new approaches and strategies in teaching statistics effectively. Lectures will cite examples of using real life data in the local setting, computer exercises will have specific concepts that can be applied in classrooms and participative discussions encouraged for further understanding of the subject matter.

This course is intended for teachers at the tertiary level who are teaching statistics but without any formal education on statistics.
